Obi Sushi: ★★★½ (3.5 stars)

I was planning on writing a simple 3-star review based on three visits to Obi Sushi over the past 2 months, but the service today was worth mentioning, bumping it up to 3-1/2 or 4 stars.

There are two menus of note: a low-cost lunch buffet or a bit pricier sushi, sashimi, and nigiri menu. With the menu, you may order a'la carte with fixed prices for set numbers of pieces, or you may order various combos and Chef's specials. The lunch buffet is reasonable in price, quality, and location. This is NOT Todai or some upscale Japanese restaurant, it would be wrong to expect premiere cuts and presentations at these prices for a lunch buffet.

Taste and texture in sashimi varies greatly depending on the quality, cut, and temperature of the fish. The salmon and snapper was well-done, the tuna was served a little too warm for my liking, disrupting the subtle undertones and flavour of a good tuna steak.

Today's hostesses were Mika, Kaori, and Fon. While other reviewers have complained about the service at Obi Sushi, I disagree. For three hostesses serving a busy lunchtime rush (12:30-1:30P, weekdays), I was especially impressed with Mika and Kaori's efficiency and attention to detail. I might agree that they are not as quick to take orders, return, check on each customer, handles sales, change, and receipts, I think they do the best as they can for a local restaurant with busy corporate lunch rush and moderately busy dinner crowds. Sorry, this is not McDonald's, please don't treat your hostesses as such.

On the whole, a decent 3.5 star restaurant for good sushi, sashimi, and nigiri to be found in Reston Town Center.

Tracking the PlayStation Vita on it's way from New Castle (DE) to Sterling (VA)…

The PSVita left New Castle, DE, at 8:48 AM this morning to Lawnside, NJ. It is now en route though Maryland to Chantilly, VA, where it will on a delivery truck to Sterling, VA, in the morning.

I started laughing, and spoke aloud "Driving A T M"

It's really kinda nice that I can drive to work with my iPhone in the stereo dock, and talk to Facebook, Email, and text messages. All without typing!
