Life After Hurricane Sandy

30 Oct

Grabbed my Sony NEX-7, toss a couple of lenses and spare batteries in my camera bag, and left for work this morning wondering what I would find on the roads…

Leesburg Pike from Sterling to Fairfax County Parkway had some evidence of flooding, with construction cones and debris along the side of the road. There were two Fairfax County Police with a generator, lamps, and chainsaw at the intersection of Rt 7 and Fairfax County Parkway.

Some minor damage from Rt 7 to Reston Town Center along the Fairfax County parkway, with fallen trees and partially down power lines.  Dominion electric was already on-scene with linesmen assessing the damage.

Reston Town Center has the lights on, some evidence of flooding with debris in the corners and puddles in low-lying areas.

As far as I can tell, we got off easy!

Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA). ;)

Vicky took this picture of me using my iPhone, but I do try to swing my cameras around to put a human element in my pictures.  It's one thing to take pictures of landscapes unmarred by people, it's another to show "I was here" or "people were here"
