When Kiyomi was a puppy, I was sometimes frustrated by her. She'd try so hard to express herself by running around, shaking a toy, and then yipping at me or grabbing hold of me.
"What is it you're trying to say?" "Why are you so excited?" "I wish you'd calm down a bit." is what I'd think.
Now that Kiyomi is 3 years, going on 4, I sometimes miss her puppy self. When she's quiet, sedate, and doesn't want to play, I miss her.
Having a dog is like having a small child, sometimes it's about teaching behaviour, sometimes it's about learning to communicate.

My dog passed away in 2009 at the age of 15… although I miss her and her ways, I wouldn't have another dog, too dependent… she had 'Roger Moore' eyebrows, they moved independently of each other and that is how she communicated with us and yes, like this quote suggests, it was obvious to us from her eyebrows that she thought we were idiots! lol The cats on the other hand know we are idiots and treat us with the contempt we deserve, they are more honest about it lol
